Do you use your toothbrush to clean your tongue? We say NO!
Using your toothbrush to clean your tongue is not done….
Your toothbrush does a good job of keeping your mouth clean. Fortunately, because we don't want any nasty odors or dirt in our mouths, but you are not supposed to clean your tongue with your toothbrush. After all, a toothbrush is suitable for your teeth and not your tongue.
In this blog, Coco Clean explains how to best keep your mouth and tongue clean and why!
4 reasons why you should not clean your tongue with your toothbrush, but with a tongue scraper:
1. You can damage your tongue if you clean it too often with a toothbrush. A toothbrush often has a hard brush with hard bristles, which can damage and roughen the vulnerable tongue tissue . 2. There can also be bacteria and dirt on your toothbrush when you have just brushed your teeth, so it is not so fresh to run this toothbrush over your tongue.
3. Brushing your tongue with a tongue cleaner is more effective . A tongue scraper removes more bacteria than using a toothbrush as a tongue cleaner. 4. Last but not least, the brush head of a toothbrush is higher than a flat tongue cleaner. That is why you often cannot reach the back of the tongue properly with a toothbrush without gagging. A comfortable tongue scraper is therefore ideal if you are sensitive to gagging tendencies (also called the gag reflex).
Coco Clean's “Tongue Cleaner” is your best friend!
These are the benefits:
- As many as one in four Dutch people suffer from bad breath and one in seven even suffer from permanent bad breath, which can be remedied by scraping your tongue daily.
- Comfort! According to recent research by the Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), the Tongue Cleaner is the best tongue scraper in the world because of its comfort and effect.
- Experience no gagging tendencies with our Coco Clean “Tongue Cleaner” due to the specially designed sides. 😯
- The Coco Clean “Tongue Cleaner” contains a large and a small side for even more precise scraping. 😏
- Did you know that you are less likely to get sick if you keep your mouth clean? After all, your mouth is an accessible doorway for bacteria to enter your body. Very susceptible to bad bacteria, we shouldn't have that!
How to use a tongue scraper:
- Rinse your Coco Clean “Tongue Cleaner” with warm or hot water. This way you ensure that your tongue scraper is clean before use.
- Stick out your tongue. 😝
-
Stand in front of the mirror so that you have a good view of the action you are performing.
This way you can immediately compliment yourself on how good you look. 😎 - Scrape the entire tongue with the large side, try to place the “Tongue Cleaner” as far back as possible on the tongue. Afraid of a gagging effect? Don't worry, our tongue scraper is designed to combat this. Our customers even rate our “Tongue Cleaner” with a 4.7 / 5.0 on comfort! ⭐
- Scrape from back to front.
- Use the large side to scrape the entire tongue surface.
- Use the smaller side for some difficult to reach places. The small side can also be used to apply a little more pressure or to coordinate more precisely with your hand. The small side allows for harder and more precise scraping.
- Do not scrape more than twice a day. If you scrape the tongue more often, you make the tongue rougher. This ensures a faster build-up of tongue coating and we don't want that...
- Finally, replace your tongue scraper every 3 months so that bad bacteria don't stand a chance.
Be kind to your mouth, keep it clean by scraping your tongue, but be gentle.
Where to store?
Store your tongue scraper dry and out of direct sunlight. This way you prevent bacteria and extra activities on your tongue scraper.
It is understandable that you share your bathroom with your partner, family members or housemates. It sometimes happens that there are several tongue scrapers in the bathroom. Keep these separately to avoid misunderstandings! Not very convenient to accidentally use someone else's tongue scraper... ooopsie, that's obviously not going to happen.
Tips so that everyone in the house can keep their mouth clean with their own tongue scraper.
- Store the tongue scrapers in separate places.
- Mark the tongue scraper with a piece of waterproof colored tape (some washi tapes can withstand water ;)
- You can also mark the tongue scraper with a dot of colored permanent marker.
- Our Coco Clean “Tongue Cleaner” is currently available in light blue, but good news! Soon you will be able to click on our website whether you would like to receive the light blue or the transparent color.
- Can it get any better? Of course! The Coco Clean team is working hard to also release our much-loved “Tongue Cleaners” in multiple colors. Stay tuned. 🤩
